ReTreat

Do you remember walking down that hilly road,
and gazing at the speckled sky?
Like countless stars, our words have since faded.
Like starlight, their feeling still reaches me.

As we stood atop the gravelly knoll,
you wished to hold my hand.
But for reasons unknown, you let it be.

Perhaps our relation was not yet sanctified.

Quietly we returned to the house,
as not to wake the others.
In a dimly lit room, you anointed me and mine.
Glistening, I held you and yours,
between mine.

The dim light cast our shadow…shadows.
One, then two, then one again,
it fissioned and fused.

Our primordial shadow evolved,
painting the walls with endless, beautiful forms.
One moment, bunny ears with one pinnae bent.
Another, the spread horns of a bull.

When we finished
with our creation,
we rested.

Could a bathroom be consecrated?

I remember that hilly road and holy room,
to re-treat myself to the thought of you.
